Our relationship with our teacher from Flying Fingers began several years ago as a recommendation from another family.  It was indeed "chemistry at first chord"!  Years later, our son continues to thrive in the fun yet challenging and supportive environment that his instructor provides.  Under the tutelage of Flying Fingers wonderful instructors, your child will grow as a musician in an atmosphere that encourages passion for music.  We feel extremely blessed to have music lessons in our home each week,  and look forward to many years of lessons to come!

My girls have loved taking guitar and piano lessons from their teacher at Flying Fingers!  Our teacher kept them engaged throughout the year by allowing them to pick some of their favorite current songs to learn and play.  By making them active participants in the process, not only did they learn to play some of their favorite music, I didn't have to ask them to practice!  I highly recommend Flying Fingers and its teachers to all families looking for a quality musical experience for their children.

I'm hoping I haven't already told you this.  Beau was at Camp Seagull as a counselor-in-training this year.  One of the first nights, they had a shared dinner with the counselors-in-training from Seafarer, the girls' camp.  Beau described it as incredibly awkward.  There was a piano in the corner so he walked over and started playing Hallelujah.  He said the entire room just started singing, and that was what broke the ice.  Another kid got up and played after him, and Beau admitted that he was much better than he was, but that all night all sorts of people came up to him and told him what a great piano player he was.

I thought that was a sweet story that you would appreciate.  These things count.

How do you get a teenage boy to practice his music at least 30 minutes a day?  Threaten him?  Surprising to us the one thing that worked wasn't taking away the X-Box, or limiting Facebook time.  It was simply that if he didn't practice at least 30 minutes each day we'd no longer pay for his weekly lessons.  He loved his instructor and lesson time so much we never once had to remind him of our requirement to practice.  Call us crazy, but his practice sessions recently sounded so good we bought him a bigger amp.

Our teacher has nurtured and supported our three children's passion for music for many years. He makes music lessons fun as he challenges each of them at their own unique pace.  He has been a wonderful role model for them, as well.  We are grateful to have such an inspiring, caring and capable teacher in their lives.

My 12-year-old son always looks forward to his guitar lessons. So do I. As I cook dinner, I get to listen to great rock music emanating from both my son's guitar and the teacher's, as they alternate teaching and playing and playing in tandem. I hear laughter and talking, and when the lesson is over, both teacher and student emerge from the basement smiling. A new guitar technique has been learned, a new song or two assigned for the week, a new joke or two shared, and a wealth of support and motivation carries my son along until the next lesson. The technical musical superiority of the teacher is well-known; his kindness, patience, and genuine interest in his students is an unexpected gift. With his guidance, I can see my son's guitar playing and love of music progress along with his self-confidence.

Our sons have loved their experience with Flying Fingers. Their teacher has constantly challenged them to become better musicians and as a result, they look forward to their weekly lessons. Playing their instruments has become a daily occurrence for them and we have marveled at how quickly they have progressed as musicians. Moreover, they love it! Their teacher has instilled a great love of making music, an appreciation of many styles of music and a commitment to constantly improve. We cannot recommend Flying Fingers highly enough!

Our son has taken guitar lessons with Flying Fingers the past 4 years. Our teacher is an amazingly talented and professional musician. He is a dedicated teacher and develops the whole child. We saw our sons self confidence soar! It has been a wonderful experience!! Our favorite part of the year is the recital. This is a production not to be missed! It is an opportunity for the students to shine. Often times their performance is posted on YouTube! It is very exciting for young musicians! This is an amazing group of teachers!

Before giving our son a guitar, we set out to find a teacher and were immediately referred to Flying Fingers by two different families. What a blessing! Over the last two years, our son has grown so much as a musician and continues to astound us with his progress.  He receives amazing instruction and wonderfully positive encouragement from his teacher, plus the added bonus (for me) of having the lessons in our home!  We HIGHLY recommend Flying Fingers Music for anyone interested in learning an instrument!

Our teacher has taught 2 of our daughters and is like a member of our family!  He started with our second daughter when she was very young and would sneak in and watch her big sister’s lessons.  He always made her feel secure about her talent and has encouraged her to progress and move beyond her comfort zone.  His easy going manner makes the kids enjoy and look forward to their lessons and the recitals are the icing on the cake!

We have been more than happy with our teacher.  He keeps our son interested and focused by incorporating up to date music, even transcribing songs on the spot, for him to play.  Our teacher has a great feel for what our son and daughter are capable of and tailors the lessons to push them to their potential, while all the time keeping the lessons fun!

Choosing Flying Fingers Music was one of the best decisions our family ever made. Each week our children looked forward to their lessons, and we welcomed their teachers into our lives as role models and just awesome, fun people. We are grateful that our children love to play music, and we believe this stems from the low key, professional and positive attitudes of the Flying Fingers teachers. We would be happy to speak to any parents who are considering starting their children on the road to musical success with Flying Fingers!

My three children are going on their 5th year of taking lessons with Flying Fingers Music.  We love it!! Prior to finding Flying Fingers Music my children begrudgingly took lessons.  I think this is because the former teachers taught my children the music they knew instead of the music my children wanted to learn.  At Flying Fingers they tailor the lessons to meet the child's interest. At one time my son's interest started to wane. The teacher suggested that he perform a duet with a friend playing at a comparable  level. My son was re-energized and back into playing the piano.  In all, I can say my family is going on their 5th year working with this company with no regrets!!

After 3 years of lessons with another guitar instructor, my son became bored with 'instruction-book' music and traditional techniques.   He was seriously considering quitting the guitar when we were introduced to Flying Fingers Music.  Since then, our son looks forward to every lesson and practices with enthusiasm!   His teacher is as much a musical mentor and friend as he is an "instructor" -- he and our son discuss bands, choose music, jam, and sing together.  Because he is now interested in his music and engaged by his teacher, our son is making far more rapid progress than he did with his previous instructor.  We never cease to be astounded by his improvement each year at FFM's annual performance recitals!

We always look forward to music day at our house. For years, our music teacher has motivated and inspired my three sons. Each week they look forward to what new music they will get to learn and even search the radio for songs to suggest. To me, music has been more than a fun, lifetime skill for my children; our teacher has been a great mentor and inspiration through pre-teen and teenage years.  Thanks for many years of music!

My daughter has been taking electric guitar lessons for 3 years with Flying Fingers…her teachers have provided the perfect balance of technical instruction and personal motivation to keep her challenged and interested…she’s able to choose the songs she wants to play and even got to write and perform a song of her own…I couldn’t be more pleased!!

  • Ellen Dotts

My teacher is fun.  He shares jokes and horses around with me.  If I hear a song I like, my teacher helps me find the music to it so we can work on it.  and he helps suggest cool songs!

  • Cal Withington

Our teacher obviously enjoys what he does, connects so well with kids and
inspires a passion for music within them.
